Biography

Walt Kelly was born in Philadelphia in 1913 and worked as an animator, cartoonist, journalist, and reporter. He began his animation career in 1936 at Walt Disney Productions, where he contributed to Pinocchio, Fantasia, and Dumbo. In 1941, Kelly moved to Dell Comics and created Pogo, a comic strip he used for political and philosophical commentary. He died in 1973.
