William Baumol
American economist (1922-2017)
Biography
William Baumol was born in New York City in 1922 and died in 2017. An economist, he held professorships at New York University and Princeton University, where he became professor emeritus, and served as Academic Director of the Berkley Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. He authored more than eighty books and several hundred journal articles, and the Baumol effect is named after him.
