Biography
William Calley was born in Miami, Florida on June 8, 1943. A United States Army officer, he was convicted by court-martial of the murder of 22 unarmed South Vietnamese civilians in the My Lai massacre on March 16, 1968, during the Vietnam War. Following his conviction, President Richard Nixon ordered his release to house arrest three days later. After his dismissal from the Army and release from confinement, Calley died on April 28, 2024.
