American actor (1915–1970)
Biography
William Hopper was born in New York City on January 26, 1915, and worked as a stage, film, and television actor. He was the only child of actor DeWolf Hopper and columnist Hedda Hopper. During the 1930s and 1940s, he appeared in more than 80 feature films. After serving in the United States Navy during World War II, he stepped away from acting until director William Wellman persuaded him to return to film work in the 1950s. He portrayed private detective Paul Drake in the CBS television series Perry Mason. He died on March 6, 1970.
