Zell Bryan Miller was born on February 24, 1932, in Young Harris, Georgia. He worked as a historian, businessperson, and politician, serving as Georgia's 79th governor from 1991 to 1999 and as a United States senator representing Georgia from 2000 to 2005. A member of the Democratic Party, he was the last Democrat elected twice as governor of Georgia as of 2026. He died on March 23, 2018.
