Biography

Zeppo Marx was born on February 25, 1901, in Manhattan. He was the youngest of the five Marx Brothers and worked as a comedic actor, stage performer, and businessman. During the 1920s he appeared with his brothers on Broadway, and from 1929 to 1933 he performed in the first five Marx Brothers films, where he typically played a romantic lead or straight man in a more subdued manner than his siblings. Following Duck Soup in 1933, he left acting to work as an engineer and theatrical agent. He died on November 30, 1979.
