Edward Bruce defeated the Anglo-Irish lords of Leinster near Athy. Robert Bruce joined his brother in Ireland in 1317, and the two brothers marched south through Leinster to the walls of Dublin. Their march caused widespread devastation but they could not take Dublin and retreated north.
