The Percy family mobilised their extensive Yorkshire tenantry for the Lancastrian army that fought at Towton. Henry Percy Earl of Northumberland was killed at Towton. The Percy northern affinity provided the largest single contingent of the Lancastrian army and their defeat broke Lancastrian control of Yorkshire.
