The Battle

History & Significance

Richard III responded to Buckingham's rebellion with speed, mobilising his northern affinity and marching south. The rebellion collapsed so quickly — largely due to floods and Stafford's betrayal — that Richard barely needed to fight. He proceeded to Salisbury where Buckingham was executed and then through the west country where the southern risings dissolved.
