The Battle of Edgcote Moor (Danes Moor) near Chipping Warden in Northamptonshire was the culmination of the Earl of Warwick's first rebellion against Edward IV. The Welsh army under the Earl of Pembroke was caught strung out on the march and unable to deploy properly. Devon's cavalry failed to support. Pembroke and his brother were captured and beheaded on Warwick's orders. Edward IV himself was briefly a prisoner. The battle showed that the man who made Edward king could also unmake him.
Pembroke and his brother executed; c.2,000 killed in battle
