History & Significance

During the consolidation of the Lordship of the Isles under Donald II in the late fourteenth century, MacDonald forces regularly raided the peninsula of Morvern to assert lordship. The MacLeans, then subordinate allies of the MacDonalds, were sometimes in dispute with their overlords over the control of Morvern lands. These raids maintained MacDonald supremacy in the area.
