History & Significance

After Wallace's defeat at Falkirk, Scotland was reorganised under joint Guardians — Comyn and Bruce — who between them recovered Stirling Castle from the English. The recovery was significant as Stirling controlled central Scotland. It would fall to England again in 1304 when Edward I conducted his famous siege with Warwolf.
