History & Significance

After Edward IV's accession the Mowbray Dukes of Norfolk and the Howard family mobilised East Anglian resources for the Yorkist crown. East Anglia had been torn by Paston-Mowbray feuding and Lancastrian sympathies but the Yorkist victory at Towton brought the region into the new regime's orbit.
