Glyndwr convened his first formal parliament at Machynlleth in 1404, where he was formally crowned Prince of Wales with French and Castilian ambassadors present. The Pennal Letter to the Avignon Pope, requesting transfer of the Welsh church to Avignon obedience, followed in 1406. These acts established Glyndwr not merely as a rebel leader but as a sovereign prince with diplomatic recognition and institutional government. The parliament was the last independent Welsh parliament until the Senedd in 1999.
Parliamentary assembly; no battle. Estimated c. 200–500 Welsh nobles and dignitaries present.
