History & Significance

The Neville Lords of Westmorland — distinct from the Warwick branch of the Nevilles which was Yorkist — provided Lancastrian support in the north throughout the 1460s. The Westmorland Nevilles contributed to the Yorkshire Lancastrian army fighting at Towton and to the subsequent northern castle campaigns.
