The Battle

History & Significance

While Edward IV was fighting at Barnet and Tewkesbury, Thomas the Bastard of Fauconberg attacked London with a naval force and Kentish rebels. He attacked the bridge and attempted to land at Bishopsgate and Aldgate simultaneously. The London garrison under the Mayor successfully repelled all attacks. The defence of London secured Edward IV's base and supply while he defeated the last Lancastrian armies in the field.
