History & Significance

Called "the second Agincourt" — the Duke of Bedford's English army destroyed a Franco-Scottish force including several thousand Scottish knights fighting for France under the Auld Alliance. The Scottish contingent was effectively annihilated. Verneuil confirmed English military dominance in France and delayed French recovery for nearly a decade, until Joan of Arc reversed the tide.
