History & Significance

A skirmish engagement near Old Meldrum during Bruce's campaign to eliminate the Comyn power base in north-east Scotland. After recovering from his illness, Bruce moved aggressively against his enemies in Aberdeenshire. This engagement preceded the decisive Battle of Barra and the subsequent devastation of Buchan.
