The Battle

History & Significance

After landing at Barrow-in-Furness Simnel's army marched rapidly through Lancashire passing through Clitheroe and Whalley. Henry VII had hoped local lords would stop them or that they would find no supporters, but the Stanley family again remained passive and many local men joined the march eastward into Yorkshire.
