History & Significance

The Robin of Redesdale rising in Yorkshire in spring 1469 was orchestrated by Warwick to destabilise Edward IV. The rebel army marched southward while Warwick crossed to Calais and married his daughter to Clarence. When the royal army sent to suppress the rising was destroyed at Edgcote, Edward IV was temporarily in Warwick's power.
