History & Significance

Kentish and Surrey rebels under former household men of Edward IV rose at Guildford and other towns in October 1483 intending to march to London. The rebellion collapsed when news of Buckingham's failure spread. Richard III moved quickly to suppress the rising and confiscated rebel estates.
