History & Significance

On the Coventry to Warwick road near Banbury in early April 1471 George Duke of Clarence left the Readeption forces and was publicly reconciled to his brother Edward IV. Isabel Neville and the Duchess of Burgundy had lobbied Clarence throughout the Readeption period. The reconciliation removed 4000 men from Warwick's cause and restored Edward's numerical parity.
