History & Significance

Henry Stafford Duke of Buckingham assembled his Welsh and Marcher forces at Brecon Castle in October 1483, intended to march east to join the simultaneous rebellions in Kent, Surrey and the west country against Richard III. The rebellion was coordinated through the network of former Woodville allies and disaffected southern gentry.
