Glyndwr ambushes and captures Reginald Grey Lord of Ruthin, his personal nemesis who had triggered the revolt by stealing his land and refusing to deliver Henry IV summons, leading to Glyndwr being declared traitor. Grey is held for an enormous ransom of 10,000 marks that nearly ruins him. The capture is deeply satisfying symbolically as well as financially.
