The Battle

History & Significance

Hexham effectively ended the Wars of the Roses in the north. The Duke of Somerset — the last credible Lancastrian military commander in the region — was captured and executed on the battlefield. Henry VI was reduced to a fugitive wandering Northumberland before his eventual capture
