History & Significance

The last confirmed military action attributed to Owain Glyndwr was the kidnap and ransom of Dafydd ap Llewelyn (Dafydd Gam) near Brecon in 1412. Dafydd Gam was a Breconshire loyalist who had attempted to assassinate Glyndwr at the Machynlleth parliament. The successful kidnapping showed Glyndwr still had intelligence networks and the ability to mount operations, even as his rebellion faded. He offered Henry V reconciliation but died before any response came, probably in 1415.
