History & Significance

In the days before the Battle of Killiecrankie, skirmishing occurred along the approaches to the famous pass between Jacobite outposts and General Mackay's government forces. The village of Moulinearn and the valley of the Tummel were contested ground. Dundee's Highland scouts used their knowledge of the terrain to shadow and delay the government column advancing northward.
