History & Significance

Llywelyn ap Gruffudd launches a major offensive southward following his Gwynedd consolidation, overrunning much of Ceredigion and Powys and receiving the submission of Welsh lords who had supported Henry III. An English relief force under Stephen Bauzan is destroyed at Cymerau near Llandysul, one of the worst English defeats in Wales.
