The Skirmish of Loch nan Uamh was a conflict that took place on 2 May 1746 and was part of the Jacobite rising of 1745. It was fought by the British Royal Navy against French privateers who were supporting the Jacobite rebels.
Le Mars: approximately 29 killed and 85 wounded (some accounts say around 20 killed in the opening broadside). British casualties not recorded in sources found
Royal Navy: three sloops-of-war, HMS Greyhound (20 guns), HMS Baltimore (14 guns) and HMS Terror (14 guns), under Captain Noel. French: two privateer frigates from Nantes, Le Mars (32 guns, Captain Antoine Rouille) and La Bellone (34 guns, Captain Claude Lory)
