Grim's Ditch is an ancient linear earthwork, a substantial defensive or boundary ditch-and-bank system of Iron Age date that extends for several kilometres across north Oxfordshire. The section recorded 150 metres west-south-west of Ditchley Gate within Blenheim Park comprises approximately 80 metres of the surviving monument, where it remains visible as a prominent ditch with associated bank. The earthwork likely served as a territorial boundary or defensive line during the Iron Age period, possibly constructed and maintained by the indigenous British communities of the region. This particular stretch, like other portions of Grim's Ditch across Oxfordshire, represents an important survival of prehistoric linear landscape engineering that has endured through medieval and post-medieval periods into the modern estate landscape of Blenheim Park.
