A stone hut circle 650m east of Merrivale Bridge is a Bronze Age domestic structure forming part of a larger prehistoric settlement in Devon. The site comprises a partially enclosed arrangement of stone hut circles, evidence of sustained occupation during the later Bronze Age period. The individual hut circle exhibits the characteristic circular or oval stone footings typical of Bronze Age domestic dwellings, with stones arranged to form the foundation walls of a single-roomed roundhouse. This monument contributes to our understanding of later prehistoric settlement patterns and domestic life on Dartmoor, where such hut circle settlements represent some of the most substantial evidence for ancient agricultural communities in the southwest peninsula.
