Abbeydale Works is a former scythe-making works located near Sheffield in South Yorkshire. The site dates primarily from the eighteenth century, when it functioned as a water-powered industrial mill producing scythes and other edged tools, taking advantage of the River Sheaf's flow to drive its machinery. The works represents a significant example of pre-factory era industrial production, demonstrating the integration of water power, metalworking processes, and residential accommodation within a single complex. The site has been preserved and now operates as a museum, retaining many of its original structures including the workshop buildings, workers' cottages, and the water-wheel mechanisms that characterise Sheffield's heritage of cutlery and tool manufacture.
