Achculin is a depopulated township located on the shores of Loch Ness in Inverness-shire, Scotland. The settlement represents the remains of a rural community that was abandoned during the period of agricultural reorganisation and clearance affecting the Highlands from the eighteenth century onwards. The site retains evidence of its former occupation through the presence of ruined structures and field systems characteristic of pre-clearance Highland settlement patterns. As a depopulated township, Achculin provides archaeological testimony to the significant social and economic transformations that reshaped Highland communities during the early modern period.
