Ardoch is a Roman military complex located 900 metres north-north-east of Ardoch Bridge in Perthshire, Scotland, consisting of the remains of a fort and associated temporary camps. The site dates to the late second century AD, with occupation occurring during the campaigns of Septimius Severus in Scotland around 208-210 AD. The fort itself preserves substantial earthwork remains including defensive ditches and ramparts, though much of the superstructure has been lost, and it represents an important example of Roman military infrastructure on the northern frontier of the empire. The surrounding temporary camps, which are particularly well-preserved and visible as cropmarks and earthworks, illustrate the scale of Roman military operations in Scotland during the Antonine and Severan periods.
