Bad an Leathaid is a deserted township located in Strathnaver, Sutherland in the Scottish Highlands. The settlement represents a typical example of the rural townships that characterised the Highlands and Islands before the upheaval of the Clearances in the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The township exhibits the characteristic scattered settlement pattern of medieval and early modern Highland communities, with the remains of stone-built structures distributed across the landscape. The site documents the material culture and spatial organisation of pre-Clearance Highland society, providing archaeological evidence of how ordinary families lived and organised their agricultural life in one of Scotland's remote valleys.
