Ballymagillagh is a platform rath located in County Tyrone, near Dungannon in Northern Ireland. Dating to the early Christian period, this earthwork monument consists of a raised platform enclosed by a bank and ditch system characteristic of raths constructed during the early medieval centuries. Such enclosed homesteads served as the residential and defensive centres of aristocratic families in early Christian Ireland, housing both dwelling structures and agricultural facilities within their fortified perimeter. The monument survives as a physical record of elite settlement patterns and social organisation during the period following the establishment of Christianity in Ireland.
