Barberfield enclosure, 400 metres east-south-east of Barberfield in East Lothian, is a post-medieval enclosure of agricultural significance. The site represents land management practices of the post-medieval period, when such enclosed fields became increasingly characteristic of the Scottish lowland landscape. The enclosure's physical form survives as earthwork remains that document the layout of farming activity during this era. Such field systems reflect the gradual intensification and reorganisation of agricultural land use that occurred in East Lothian from the sixteenth century onwards.
