Barton Seagrave moats, fishponds and shrunken medieval village remains is a scheduled ancient monument in Northamptonshire comprising earthwork evidence of medieval settlement and agricultural activity. The site contains the substantial remains of moated enclosures and associated fishponds, features characteristic of medieval manorial complexes and elite domestic settlements from the twelfth century onwards. The earthworks also preserve traces of the shrunken medieval village, indicating that the settlement contracted significantly, likely as a result of depopulation during the later medieval period. These archaeological remains provide material evidence for the evolution of the medieval landscape and patterns of habitation in the East Midlands.
