The site comprises the archaeological remains of a rural settlement with associated agricultural field divisions and cairn monuments, representing the material culture of early modern farming life in the north-east of Scotland. The field system reflects the organisation of arable and pastoral land during the post-medieval period, whilst the cairns may derive from both clearance activities and burial practices.
