Bogton Loch airfield is a World War II military installation sited on the Coal Measures bedrock of southern Ayrshire. Located 175 metres south-south-east of Buchan's Bridge near Dalmellington, the airfield occupies ground where Scottish Coal Measures Group strata—mudstone, siltstone, sandstone and coal seams—underlie the operational surface.
