Bowerhouse is a fort situated in Berwickshire, southern Scotland, approximately 480 metres north-west of the village of Bowerhouse. Dating to the Iron Age, the fort occupies ground underlain by wacke bedrock of the Gala Group, which was formed during the Telychian period and has shaped the underlying geology of this upland Borders landscape.
The fort represents a significant defensive structure from the pre-Roman Iron Age period when such fortified settlements served as centres of power and protection for local communities. The choice of location, on Gala Group wacke, would have offered a naturally defensible position with the added advantage of solid bedrock suitable for construction.
Today, Bowerhouse fort is protected as a Scheduled Monument by Historic Environment Scotland under the reference SM365.
