Broughton Knowe is a post-medieval ring enclosure located in Peeblesshire, Scotland. The monument consists of a circular or oval earthwork formed by a bank and ditch, a form of field fortification or livestock enclosure characteristic of the post-medieval period in the Scottish Borders. Such ring enclosures served primarily defensive or stock management functions during the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries, a period marked by border instability and the need to protect both settlement and agricultural resources.
