Bruan is a broch situated 85 metres south-west of Tulloch Lea in Caithness, northern Scotland. This Iron Age defensive tower was constructed on bedrock of Middle Old Red Sandstone, a conglomerate of sandstone, siltstone and mudstone formed during the Middle Devonian period. The solid geology beneath the site would have provided a stable foundation for the broch's substantial drystone walls.
