Burra Voe is a broch situated approximately seventy metres south-southeast of Wester Ayre in Shetland, Scotland, dating to the Iron Age. The monument is a circular stone tower of the characteristic broch type, a distinctive form of fortified dwelling that flourished in northern Scotland during the late Iron Age, typically between the 1st century BC and 1st century AD. The broch at Burra Voe represents the archaeological heritage of Shetland's Iron Age settlement pattern, when such structures served both defensive and residential functions within their communities.
