Cairnfield is an unenclosed hut circle settlement located on the moorlands north east of Pigdon's Leap in Northumberland. The site comprises a number of prehistoric hut circles arranged without formal defensive enclosure, indicating settlement during the Bronze Age or early Iron Age. Associated with the hut circles is an area of cord rig, a form of ancient field system characterised by narrow, parallel ridges that represent early agricultural cultivation. The monument represents evidence of prehistoric subsistence settlement and land use management in the upland landscape of northern England.
