Calla Broch is an Iron Age broch standing 650 metres south of Calla in Lanarkshire, Scotland. Brochs are distinctive circular stone towers unique to northern Scotland, typically dating from around 100 BC to AD 100. Built with double walls of drystone masonry, they rose to heights of up to 13 metres, providing defended homesteads for farming communities. The broch's sturdy construction allowed it to withstand both the Scottish climate and potential threats from rivals.
