Carpow is a Roman fortress located in Perthshire, Scotland, dating to the third century AD during the later Roman occupation of Britain. The fort was established as part of the Antonine Wall system's northern extension and served as a strategic military installation controlling the River Tay. Excavations have revealed substantial stone structures and defensive fortifications characteristic of Roman military architecture of this period. The site represents an important example of Roman imperial expansion into northern Scotland during the campaigns of the Severan dynasty in the early third century.
