Castle Findlay is an Iron Age fort situated in Nairnshire in the Scottish Highlands. The monument occupies a naturally defensive position on bedrock of Middle Old Red Sandstone, a conglomerate and sandstone formation laid down in the Middle Devonian period some 380 million years ago. This geology provided the fort-builders with durable stone for construction and a stable foundation on the uneven terrain of the local landscape.
