Castle mound is a Norman motte-and-bailey castle situated in Herefordshire, England. The site consists of an earthwork mound typical of early Norman fortifications, likely dating to the late eleventh or early twelfth century. As with many such structures, the mound would originally have supported timber or stone defences and represented a practical defensive solution employed following the Norman Conquest. The monument survives as an important archaeological record of Norman settlement and military organisation in the Welsh Marches.
