Cold Newton is a shrunken medieval village and moated site located in Leicestershire, England. The site preserves evidence of medieval settlement patterns, including the remains of a moated enclosure which likely served as a high-status residence within the village community. The village shrank over time, as did many English settlements during the later medieval period, leaving behind earthwork remains that document the layout and organisation of medieval rural life. The monument's survival as earthworks provides valuable archaeological testimony to the processes of village contraction and changing patterns of habitation in the East Midlands.
